GAP Program for young adults
The aim of the OEC GAP Program is to build resilient young adults for a life of service for Jesus Christ. We are working on a wholistic discipleship program designed to help young adults intentionally invest a year of their lives in knowing Jesus more deeply, growing in biblical maturity, developing ministry and life skills, and discerning how God is calling them to serve him.
There are six pillars to the GAP program:
Biblical Training: Grow in the knowledge and use of God's Word.
Mentoring/Discipleship: Grow in one-to-one discipleship.
Ministry and Work: Grow in ministry skills and applying faith in the workplace.
Mission: Gain experience and awareness of mission.
Community: Grow together as a cohort in faith and maturity.
Support: Grow through inviting God’s people to support gospel ministry.
-
The OEC GAP program is for year 12 leavers who are taking a gap year. The program is open to those who finished school the previous year.
-
The GAP program will run throughout public school terms. We will break for the school holidays.
-
Mondays are the training days, so this day must be free because it is the heart of the GAP program.
Through the rest of the week you can work and do other activities.
You would be also be involved in church ministries on other days or in the evenings.
-
Yes, there are program costs. This includes fees for some of the training and registrations etc.
However, we want our “Gappers” to be prayerfully sponsored by members of their church. So, each Gapper will be sponsored for $1500. We will help facilitate this sponsorship. So don’t be concerned about this because OEC love seeing young people grow in their faith.
-
Myles Parker is leading this ministry. OEC ministry staff will be involved, as well as members across OEC. They will be involved in mentoring, discipling and training in life and ministry skills.
-
We are open to discussing applications from members of other churches where they can partake in the program but minister in their own church.
If you have questions or would like further information, please reach out to Myles Parker - myles@oechurch.org.au
